Modeled Reading

In the modeled reading and writing strategies, the teacher assumes the responsibility of learning and demonstrates, for the students, the correct reading and writing processes.  The benefits are below.

Reading

Writing

  Purpose:

  • demonstrates proficient reading

  • expands access to text beyond child's abilities

  • exposes children to a variety of genres.

  • models the reading process positively

  • exposes students to rich vocabulary

  • provides students with new information

  • demonstrates proficient writing

  • expands access to writing beyond child's abilities

  • exposes children to a variety of genres

This process will look basically the same in each classroom.  The teacher is doing all of the work, explaining his/her actions to the students.  The students are observing what the teacher is doing.
