Shared Reading
In the shared
reading and writing strategies, everyone
participates; there is a shared responsibility for
learning. The teacher's purpose in shared reading varies
from grade level to grade level and from lesson to lesson.
This process
will appear differently in different lessons and
classrooms. The important thing in a shared reading is
that the students have access to read the text. The
teacher is the 'main' reader, and the students will read
along. The students are not reading alone during the
shared reading, they are reading with the teacher. It can
be reading orally or to themselves. The teacher is providing a great deal of
support in gaining meaning from the text.
